​What is the UPSC CAPF Exam?

UPSC Central Armed Police Forces Exam abbreviated as UPSC CAPF Exam is a national level competitive exam conducted every year by UPSC for the recruitment of Assistant Commandants (Group A) in the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo‐Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

CAPF full form is “Central Armed Police Force“. CAPF is the combined name of seven security forces in India mentioned below.

Apart from above, CAPF personnel also serve in various important Indian organizations such as.

UPSC CAPF exam generally conducted in 4 Phases – Written Exam, Physical Standard Test(PST)/ Physical Efficiency Test(PET), Medical Standards Tests(MST) and Interview/Personality Test

Candidates have to clear the minimum cut off of each phase to get recommended to the next phase.

UPSC CAPF 2020 Eligibility Criteria

Nationality:

Indian National can apply for the exam. Candidates from Nepal or Bhutan can also apply subject to the condition that a valid written consent by the government of India should be produced by the candidates.

Candidates must be 20 years old and the maximum age is 25 years old to apply for UPSC CAPF 2020 Exam.

Application fee for Assistant Commandant Exam 2020 can be submitted either through online or offline mode.

UPSC CAPF Admit Card 2020

CAPF Admit Card will be issued by UPSC in the month of July 2020. Candidates can download the Admit Card by visiting the official website upsc.gov.in by logging in with their Registration ID and Password.

Steps to Download UPSC CAPF 2020 Admit Card

• Visit the official website.
• Go to “Admit Card” tab
• Click on “Admit Card for UPSC CAPF 2020”
• Enter Registration ID & Date of Birth OR password
• Click on “Submit”
• Download Admit Card and take a print out.

UPSC CAPF Exam Centers 2020

UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern and Selection Process

The selection of Assistant Commandant by UPSC CAPF Exam will be done by a three-stage process. Written exam, Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests and Interview.

1-Written Exam

UPSC CAPF written exam will be conducted on 20^th December 2020. There will be two papers in the written exam.

• Paper-I (General Ability and Intelligence – 250 Marks)
• Paper-II (General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension ‐ 200 Marks)

Important Points for Written Exam:

• There is a separate cut off in both papers and candidates will have to secure minimum qualifying marks as decided by UPSC.
• Paper-I will be an objective type question paper and paper II will be a descriptive type question paper.
• There will be negative marking in Paper I and 1/3 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
•  Paper-I will be set in both English and Hindi.

(ii) Physical Standard/ Physical Efficiency Test and Medical Standard Test:

Candidates qualified in the written test will be called for Physical Test. If a candidate qualifies meeting Physical Standards as per the norms of selections, will be eligible for Physical Efficiency Test as mentioned below:

Physical Efficiency Tests (PET):

Note: Pregnancy at the time of PET will be a disqualification and pregnant female candidates will be rejected.

Important points:

(iii) UPSC CAPF Interview / Personality Test:

Candidate, qualified in Medical Standards Test, will be called for Next Phase i.e., Interview and Personality Test which will be conducted by UPSC.

(iv) Final Selection / Merit

Final Selections will be based on the merit list constructed involving marks secured by the candidates in the Written Exam and Interview / Personality Test.

UPSC CAPF 2020 Result

The result for UPSC CAPF 2020 written exam will be declared in 2021 and will be published on the official website i.e.upsc.gov.in.
