UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2020: Engineering Services Examination (ESE) also known as Indian Engineering Services (IES) is conducted by Union Public Service Commission. It’s a national level exam conducted each year to recruit eligible candidates to various engineering services divisions all over India.

As per the revised UPSC Calendar 2020 pdf, ESS 2020 main exam is rescheduled for 18th October 2020.

Update (December 24, 2020): UPSC has opened the window to submit the detailed application form for the written qualified candidates of Engineering Services Main examination. Candidates can submit the DAF online by following this link. Please note that the last date to submit the Detailed application form is 5th January 2021.

Update (September 8, 2020): UPSC has reopened the online application form submission window for those candidates who want to change their choice of examination center. Candidates can submit their response for change in exam center choice from 8th -13th September 2020 (06.00 PM) at the official website upsconline.nic.in. This decision is taken due to the concerns of candidates of Covid-19 related difficulties at the current exam center.

What is Engineering Services Examination (ESE)?

Engineering Services Examination (ESE) previously known as Indian Engineering Services (IES) is conducted annually by UPSC to recruit Group A and Group B officers for the techno-Managerial posts in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics & Telecommunications divisions of Government of India.

According to UPSC official notification, The number of vacancies to be filled on the results of the examination is expected to be approximately 495 that includes some below-mentioned vacancies for special categories.

Eligibility Criteria

(I) Nationality:

A candidate must be either:

(II) Age Limits:

(a)A candidate for this examination must be at least 21 years old and maximum age limit is 30 years.
(b) In the case of Government servants The upper age limit can go up to 35 years.

(III) Minimum Educational Qualification:
