What is SBI PO Exam?

State Bank of India-Probationary Officers exam abbreviated as the SBI PO exam is a national level competitive examination conducted every year by SBI to recruit eligible Indian citizens for the Probationary Officers posts in State Bank of India all over India.

SBI PO Exam Pattern 2020

SBI PO Exam is considered as the toughest Bank exam to crack as compared to other banks due to a lot of competition. Each year millions of candidates applied for this exam to compete for 2000 to 3000 posts.

SBI PO Exam Pattern 2020 will consist of three rounds

Exams Pattern for SBI PO Exam is the same for the past few years. The final selection in the SBI Probationary Exam will be done according to the performance in all three Exams.

SBI PO Prelims Exam:

There will be three sections like English Language, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability.

Important Points for SBI PO Preliminary Exam:

  • SBI PO Preliminary examination will consist of objective type of questions
  • The total duration of the Preliminary Exam will be 1 hour and candidates will have to attempt 100 questions.
  • There will be negative marking and 1/3rd marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • There is no sectional cut-off in the SBI PO Prelims exam.
  • There will be a separate timing for each section.

Phase-2: Main Examination:

SBI PO Main Examination will consist of Objective type of questions of 200 marks and a descriptive paper of 50 marks.

Both tests will be online tests and candidates will have to type on a computer in the Descriptive Test.

Objective Test:

There are four sections in the Objective Test. Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation, General Awareness abut Economy/Banking, and English Language.

Important Points:

  • The duration of objective test will be 3 hours.
  • Candidates will have to attempt 155 questions of 200 marks.
  • There will be a separate timing in objective test for each section.
  • Candidates will have to get minimum passing marks in each section as decided by the bank.
  • There will be negative marking and 1/4th marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Descriptive Test:

 The Descriptive Test is a Letter & Essay writing test. Candidates will have to complete this test in 30 minutes duration which accounts for a total of 50 marks.  Candidates will have to get minimum qualifying marks in a descriptive test as decided by the bank.

Group Discussion/Personal Interview:

Candidates who have secured the minimum qualifying marks in the Main Examination will be called for Personal Interview and Group Discussion round.

Candidates will have to get minimum qualifying marks in Group Discussion & Personal Interview round which will be decided by the Bank.

Final Selection:

Final Selection will be done on the bases of marks obtained in Main Examination (Objective Test and Descriptive Test) and marks obtained in GD & Interview.

Note: Marks obtained in the Preliminary examination will not be included for final selection.

Eligibility criteria

Education Qualifications:

Candidates must be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized University.

How to apply online for SBI PO 2020 Exam?

Candidates can apply online through official website. No other mode of application will be accepted.

Candidates will have to register themselves online through Bank’s website www.statebankofindia.com or www.sbi.co.in.

After registration candidates are required to pay the requisite application fee through online mode by using debit card/ credit card/Internet banking.
