LIC Assistant recruitment is done to hire the candidates for the Assistant posts all over India. Any graduate candidate can apply for the exam.
Due to a very large number of applicants, the exam is very competitive in nature, and job seekers must check each and every detail related to the exam. So, It is advised to check the complete exam pattern and selection process 2021 and start your preparation accordingly.
Recruitment of LIC Assistants will be done through a two step process.
- Phase-1: Preliminary Examination
- Phase-2: Main Examination
Preliminary Exam Pattern 2021
All details about the LIC Assistant Preliminary examination is given in the below table. Please have a look.

Important points for the Preliminary Examination:
- The preliminary exam will be an objective type question paper
- A total of 100 questions will be asked carrying 100 marks
- Candidates will get 1 hour to complete the test
- The exam will be in both Hindi and English language
- There are 3 sections and 20 minutes will be given to attempt each section
- Section 1 (English / Hindi language test) is a qualifying test only marks will not be added in total marks.

Main Exam Pattern
LIC Assistant Main exam Pattern 2021 is different according to the regions categorized by the Life Insurance Corporation of India. There are two regions having different pattern given below.
- Main Examination pattern (North Central region)
- Main examination pattern (Eastern / South Central / Southern)
Main Examination pattern (North Central region)
Those candidates who successfully clear the preliminary examination and secure minimum qualifying marks will be called for the Main examination.

Important points for the Main examination (North Central region):
- The main exam will be an objective question type test
- A total of 200 questions will be asked carrying a total of 200 marks
- Candidates will have to complete the test within 2 hours 30 minutes time duration
- There will be a separate timing for each section and 30 minutes will be given to complete each section
- There is a sectional cut off in the Main exam and candidates will have to secure minimum qualifying marks in each section
- Negative marking is also there in the Main exam and 1/4 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
Main exam pattern (Eastern / South Central / Southern)

Important points for the Main examination (Eastern / South Central / Southern):
- The main difference for the Eastern/South Central/Southern Main exam is that there is no Hindi language test
- Separate timing for each section and the number of questions are also different (see above table).
Note: Marks obtained in the Main examination only will be counted for the final merit list.
All qualified candidates will get an opportunity to work with LIC as an assistant after successful medical tests and document verification.
All selected candidates will be on a probation period of 6 months which can be further increased to 1 year.
After completing the probation period candidates will get a permanent job in LIC as an assistant.
